We integrate renewable energy and modern technology to empower farmers with affordable, sustainable solutions.
At Oorja, our mission is to empower low-income farmers in India by providing them with innovative, affordable, and sustainable farming solutions. We leverage cutting-edge solar-powered technology to transform agricultural practices and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. Here’s how technology drives our mission and supports our community.
We are harnessing the sun’s energy to provide reliable and affordable irrigation service powered by decentralised solar PV infrastructure. Here’s how it works

We install advanced solar-powered Brushless DC (BLDC) and AC submersible pumps of 5 HP capacity directly at the farm. These pumps can deliver up to 250 cubic metres of water per day, ensuring ample supply for irrigation.

Water is sold at fixed tariffs, and usage is meticulously measured using flow metres. This ensures farmers pay a fair price based on the volume of water used, regardless of the time of day or season.

Our systems maximise efficiency by delivering water precisely when and where it’s needed, helping farmers maintain productive crops throughout the year.
Our approach to technology is rooted in three core principles
We select and deploy technology that ensures safety, quality, and performance. We procure solar equipment from top-tier suppliers in India and rigorously test each component to minimise downtime and maximise reliability.
We make it easy for farmers to access our services through transparent pricing, and by connecting them to digital payment systems. This integration bridges the gap between field operations and modern technology.
We continually innovate and expand our services to meet the evolving needs of our communities. Our upcoming 'Dhoop' application for smallholder farmers is a testament to our commitment to bringing digital technology directly to the hands of those who need it most.
A unified digital platform that connects farmers to advice, insights, and support.
Dhoop centralises training materials, agronomic guidance, soil testing bookings, personalised crop recommendations, weather forecasts, market prices, and direct communication with Oorja’s advisory team, ensuring consistent, timely, and accessible support for farmers.
The app improves transparency, efficiency, and farmer autonomy while enabling Oorja to scale advisory services cost-effectively. Upcoming features will support post-harvest decision-making and connections with market actors.
