Oorja’s Pay-Per-Use model is designed to make reliable solar irrigation accessible to small and marginal farmers without the burden of upfront investment. Instead of buying a solar pump, farmers receive irrigation as a service and pay only for the water they use.
Oorja installs, owns, and operates solar-powered irrigation systems directly on farms. Farmers are charged an affordable per-unit tariff, which allows them to irrigate year-round. This approach shifts irrigation from a high capital expense to a manageable, predictable operating cost.
Oorja retains ownership of the system, and is responsible for its long-term performance. This ensures reliable operation over the asset’s lifetime, making irrigation timely and affordable for last-mile farmers.
